Research Focus
My research group is passionate about translational virology. We are driven by the idea to generate basic knowledge in the laboratory that can be used to develop vaccines and antivirals to combat viruses that pose a threat to human health.
Especially viruses with RNA genomes have a high propensity to mutate and can therefore jump the species barrier between animals and humans and can escape the effect of natural or vaccine induced immune responses and antivirals.
We are currently focusing our research on hepatitis C virus (HCV) and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
We are interested in developing vaccine candidates and are investigating determinants of viral immunogenicity. We are studying vaccine induced immune responses with focus on neutralizing antibodies.
We are investigating the efficacy of antivirals, associated antiviral resistance and underlying mechanisms.
My research group is part of Copenhagen Hepatitis C Program at the Department of Infectious Disease at Hvidovre Hospital and the at the Department of Immunology and Microbiology at the University of Copenhagen.
